Mashable’s Take

While professional soccer lacks the popularity of the NFL, MLB, NBA, or NHL in the US, it’s one of the biggest amateur sports, for both kids and adults. YouSport is designed to cater to this crowd, offering them tools for organizing and managing teams, sharing highlights, and, to some extent, also covering professional soccer news for those that are interested.

If you play soccer or manage your kid’s team, the “Team Manager” aspect of the site will probably be most useful to you. It allows you to setup a roster for your team and post the schedule, amongst other features. Much like an evite-like service, it also takes care of keeping track of who’s actually going to your games, making it easy to find a replacement if need-be. There are also some other nice add-ons, like being able to keep a photo gallery and send a blast message out to your whole team.

YouSport is free to use, though the site plans to offer premium features down the line. It might not be the sexiest site we’ve covered recently, but it does solve a real problem for a relatively large audience. The alternatives? Probably just using an existing social networking site or event management tool, though YouSport offers enough specialty features to make it worth the investment if soccer is really your thing.
